Spring Production 2022- Matilda

Cast Auditions

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and the large increase of individuals in ROM/quarantine status, Vivace is going digital with auditions for Matilda this year! Here is what you need to know:

The window for submitting your audition materials will be January 26-29. A separate submission must be made for each actor. Your digital package will consist of the following:

  • A Google form with pertinent information, including an email address you check frequently. Email will be the primary means of communication throughout the audition process, so it is imperative that this is correct!

  • A video submission with your monologue, your music performance, and your choreography. You may upload this into Google Drive (make sure the link you send us has the appropriate permissions!), unlisted on YouTube, or you may attach your video directly to the form. You may record these three things separately and take as many tries as you want! However, please link your three videos together into one submission. Videos MUST be filmed after January 18, 2022.

    • Monologue: Choose ONE of the monologues provided on the audition page. Use your phone’s back camera (not the selfie one) and place it about arm’s length away from you. We want to see you ACTING, not just reading!

    • 1 minute song: You may sing a capella (no accompaniment) or use a YouTube backing/karaoke track. Some good choices are Disney songs or songs from another musical. There should be no other vocals on your recording- i.e. do not just sing along to a song with the words playing. Use your phone’s back camera (not the selfie one) and place your phone about six feet away from you.

    • Choreography: A video with the choreography to learn will be released on January 24. Please learn the choreography and include a video of yourself performing the routine. Be sure your entire body is in the shot for the entire routine!

Tips for a Great Virtual Audition

  • Do a test on your recording device and make sure the sound is clear and there is no background noise. Be sure the sound isn’t blown out and you are presenting the best of yourself!

  • When you prop up your phone to record, do not block the microphone.

  • Use the camera on the back of your phone. It is a better camera and you won’t be distracted with your image on your screen.

  • CHECK YOUR VIDEO in its entirety before you submit. Be sure your voice is clear and your video is complete! We will not take any submissions after the deadline.
